View Full Version : HOTS
Um... Hello. I was wondering if anybody could actually explain this HOTS system. I heard that it's the reason for all the good marks. What is the difference in HOTS questions and normal ones? What makes HOTS questions so important?
Thanks for any help that you can give. :( :?:

Hots stands for the Higher Order Thinking Skills. From this year 20% of the paper will have analytical questions which will be different from past year's papers. This means that these will be phrased differently from the regular questions and answering them will require sound understanding of concepts as well as critical thinking. Just have been done to differentiate the best from the rest. If a student scores 100 % in this paper, then he is really the best. In the new scheme 10% of the questions will be very short answer questions, and 20% will be concept based. The rest though remains the same.
See, there is no such change is pattern that you need to prepare yourself from the beginning. The simple change is that there will be some questions (20%) based on concepts and basics to test your knowledge of the concepts and ability to solved real life problems. In other words the ability to co-relate your knowledge with real life situations. It was there in last year papers too. But this time it has been increased to 20%. So don't be panic. Study as usual and keep more attention to basics.
