Hi,
1) I am studying in Gulf will be doing my 10th board in March 2008.
NCERT NIC.IN shows the english literature book as First flight whereas
the school teachers had told us to use the old reader which been used
last year the first lesson start with The Tribute. Pls advice which is the
correct reader.
2) We had been given some notes from the old reader for Geography,
Physics pls let me know do we have to refer the last year readers
notes or only the new readers notes published in NCERT.NIC.IN.
3) In the readers some information is in blue colour & orange colour do
we have to study those also for ex in Geography reader in mineral
lesson in the first page there is some information about toothpaste in
blue colour.
4) Teachers give some extra notes which is not in the NCERT readers do
we have to study those notes or the test paper will be only from the
reader?

1. The English literature book is First flight as it is shown in ncert.nic.in and in India all CBSE schools are following this new reader book only. There is no use of studying old deleted lessons now. Request your teacher to see the latest syllabus for class tenth for 2008 in http://cbse.nic.in or http://onlineteachers.co.in/cbse If she/He want to go in details about changes in syllbus in all subjects in class 10 she/he may go the link below:

2. Extra notes will be helpful to study better. These notes and test papers must be relevant and as per the course prescribed by the CBSE for 2008 exams.

3. The information provided in different colours, is an addtional one. This is not very important for examination point of view. But some key points from this portion must be taken as addtional readings.

the book which you are talking about is the right one. its online version is not there on ncert.nic.in because it has been published by central board of secondary education.even i have the same book in my school(interact in english).

Actually there are two courses of english in class 10th.

1. English Communicative : It is course A and the first lesson starts with THE TRIBUTE. This book is published by CBSE not by NCERT.

2. English Language and Literature : It is course B and the books are "first flight" and "footprints without feet". These books are published by NCERT only.
